A brilliant evening was spent at Risby Village Hall last Saturday when local Suffolk celebrity, Charlie Haylock, gave a most splendid and informative talk on The History of The English Language! Did you know that the Australian dialect originates from the Suffolk and the East End of London combined? Charlie demonstrated all the many English dialects and how and why we have them and took us on a whirlwind tour of the origins of our language including Chaucer & Shakespeare!
Not only was the evening really entertaining but we raised around £900 for the work of Risby Church.
