Earth Day

Nature has woken in the northern hemisphere. Queen Bumblebees have been searching in our garden for several weeks for a suitable nesting site. Our resident Blackbirds have been busy foraging for nesting material. And some gregarious Starlings, a Red List species, have moved into the eaves of our cottage. Despite all the distractions we create for ourselves through technology, our greatest joys are experienced through communing with nature. Give yourselves permission to take a moment and breathe it in.

1. In the United States, Texas—long associated with oil production—now leads the nation in wind energy generation. 
2. China is currently leading the world in both wind and solar, with twice as much capacity under construction as the rest of the world combined in 2024. 
3. Uruguay has transformed its energy sector, moving from being dependent on oil imports togenerating 98% of its electricity from renewable sources.
