What is our carbon footprint?

Think of your carbon footprint as your personal impact you leave on our planet. It is the amount of greenhouse gas you produce in units of carbon dioxide. This footprint is determined by your daily lifestyle and activities, such as travel (car, plane, train, etc), electrical use, consumption of products and services & foods you eat.

Back in June 2023 Eco church examined the carbon footprint of household cleaning items. Risby PCC has just re-calculated the carbon footprint of St Giles’s church.

If you would like to calculate your own household carbon footprint, I recommend 360 Carbon website. You will need some information to hand, such as your annual energy usage. It does take a little time, but it is informative, as you can plan how to reduce your carbon footprint for the next year. I usually complete my own at the start of a new year.

ECO FUN FACT: If you have not done so, changing your energy supplier to one that offers electricity from renewable sources is a huge benefit to the environment and would lower your carbon footprint!

Our actions make a difference!
