Like the sound of a meadow or just replacing a small area of your lawn with wildflowers and native grasses? Then you may be interested in Eco church’s latest topic – meadowscaping.

Meadowscaping involves exchanging a monoculture of turfgrass for a variety of native plants and grasses. Over the next few weeks, we will examine the benefits – along with the issues you should be aware of before commencing your own meadow project. Your meadow area should always have native plants at its foundation, as well as native grasses, which provide a backdrop for the flowers. Natives are best adapted to the area. If, however, you want colour until the end of summer, you will need to add a seed mix of other annuals. Next week we discover how to turn grass into meadow.
