Last Sunday, almost 200 people attended the Land Army event that our benefice helped to organise, which was held at Saxham Hall. This special fundraising event aims to raise £100,000 to build a statue honouring those who joined the Women’s Land Army and Women’s Timber Corp in Suffolk. They also look to create an online roll of honour, so those who served are recognised for their efforts.
The Land Army worked tirelessly on the land to help feed the nation which would otherwise have starved—duties that would have been undertaken by the men, but who had left to go to war.
